Nicole N's friends arranged a studio shoot for her birthday. Celebrations started on the seamless white backdrop and continued out into the nightclubs. Primary photographer was Maree and grabbed great shoots.See the PROOFS HERE

What a great job we have at ric woods photography.We had the opportunity to photograph The Lady Juggler-Llynda Nairn. Llynda wanted new images to update her.Llynda said she had difficulty obtaining images of her performance that she liked.We showed her that we are the "GO TO" studio for performers images....

We recently photographed sky bortoli (teens against whaling)

Our photo shoot was to show Skye promoting a new range of toys called Moxie Dolls.
Skye who is also a Billabong Girl made the news the other day when she meet Prince William here.
Great to see Skye pushing to save these fantastic creatures.....

Photography Courses 2010 – Introduction

Thank you for your interest in our Studio and Location Photography Courses. My name is Maree Nichols and I am Production Manager of ric woods photography. I manage advertising, marketing, our photographic courses, I assist and photograph in the studio, on location and weddings. I have a diverse work and study background and am currently studying several courses to assist in my role at ric woods photography.
Our photography courses were very popular last year, so this year brings more variety, different skill levels and courses that have actually been requested by students wanting to further develop a particular area of their photography.
With a love of those all ages, sizes, ethnicities and gender….ric’s true passion is people and his true gift is teaching. ric has been teaching film and digital photography for many years, his down to earth style of communication enables him to easily connect with students of all ages. One of his students has won the Newcastle emerging artist’s prize and several have attained scholarships and gainful employment. Professionals have also benefited from ric’s tuition to further their expertise.
With a history in motorcycle racing and sales, ric’s career took a completely different turn in 1998 when he was commissioned to paint murals at the John Hunter Children’s hospital. From there, ric began teaching cartooning and has taught thousands of children all over the state. His photography began as pure documentation of these murals and classes and so began his passion, launching his first photographic exhibition in Newcastle in the year 2000. Since then ric has had a dynamic exhibition in Glebe, started an extremely successful photographic studio and captured images of numerous celebrities, advertising campaigns, corporate and industrial shoots, weddings and families. All this aside, he is approachable, easy going, energetic and more than willing to help those who share his passion.

Here Rachel is holding a small led light in her hands, this produces this strange blue colour cast on her face. The trick is balancing the ambient (street and sky) light ,the low wattage LED light and the 3 strobes that are lighting her and the background...You can learn all this and more in our "off camera small strobe course".

I really liked this building, the faded signage and rust along with the design which reminded me of my time in France. A perfect setting for Rachel our model.

A very big thanks to Maree the studio manager.( she also is the make up artist) Xanthe lighting assistant/ model and of course William, lighting assistant and soon to be model.


Here you can see the lighting setup.Three off camera strobes, coloured gels on some and fired by radio triggers.
