Australian Solo Speedway Titles -Kurri 2011-ric woods photography

Maree tells how.....

Maree and myself went to photograph the Australian Solo Speedway Titles at the newish track at Kurri last weekend.Congratulations to Graeme Boyd of Suzuki Newcastle, the event organiser, without Graeme's input and support, the motorcycle industry would be sadly lacking direction. I must say although the track is new and a work in progress the surface was fine and we saw great racing from the seniors and the very tenacious juniors on their scaled down machines.

The action was fast and furious from the onset.

with a few of the riders pushing to....and over the edge.

Maree shooting her second speedway event grabbed some great images.Shooting various lenses incl 24-70 2.8 on the infield and the 70-200 2.8 from the other side of the fence. She nailed some great images with the 70-200 at iso 800 with no flash

Watching these young guns checking out each other and the machines prior to practice is lots of fun.

Will came with us as 3rd shooter and greatly enjoyed the event.I can tell when people start talking camera up grades the photo bug has nipped them.

Here is Maree stalking the star and eventual winner of the night Chris Holder.Chris was in my view on a higher skill level to most of the other riders.
Our riders are world class and receive great respect throughout the world.

Here is Chris Holder showing the smooth and very fast style that had him on top at the end of the event.
