THE FAST TRACK FOR SUCCESS IS ONE ON ONE TUITION.That is what I (ric woods photography) did when I started. I learn exactly what I need to know .Ive been doing one on one with a client that has started a "niche" photography business. They are a perfect student, they are already very talented and passionate, not afraid to say "I don't know" and see this as an investment in their career. They sent me a couple of websites and said this is the standard I want to achieve, I said no problem. The first lesson was setting up camera, lighting white on white. As you can see from the image below, showing a white page or very blonde hair which is defined against a pure white background is crucial to saving HUNDREDS of hours in post production and maintaining consistency...these exposures need to be spot on, so that when you show a client a proof sheet the exposures need to be identical and the backgrounds white...not VARIOUS shades of grey.Once this is sorted, not only can you drop the images straight in websites etc but dropping in another background scene or colour is simplified. Our next session will include a revision and how to shoot "black on black" and several other topics. They have also decided to a "one on one" with maree which will cover marketing and costing of images. I saw the look on their face change when I asked "Would you rather sell your unique images as prints for $1000-$2000-$3000 OR edit them ALL including the second third choices and receive a few hundred dollars for a DVD of those images and have no control of the quality with which they are printed...with your name on them"?....for some this choice is an easy one,as it was for this student. Some of you may not be aware that maree has launched our 2013 Photography & Lighting Course Guide see link: http://www.ricwoods.com/2013.photography.course.guide.v10.pdf
