ILLUSTRATIONS by ric woods artist photographer

Hi everyone we have been enjoying the break over Christmas and New Year. Maree and myself hope you have too.

We wear several hats here at the ric woods photography studio. Some clients have difficulty trying to put us in a pigeon hole because we have several skills under this roof. Another part of our studio is illustration. We are commissioned to illustrate for magazines and children's books. One regular job I enjoy is making a cartoon for the INSTITUTE OF MERCANTILE AGENTS private investigators , process servers collectors etc.As you can imagine the stories I hear and get to illustrate are very interesting.Below are a few....

A server not being able to contact a woman asked " if someone had entered a lotto game" she magically appeared for a "chat".

..a story about being able to "check out" a persons background on line through mobile phones

...a story "pre politically correctness" in the 70s about a vehicle repossession procedure..rather unorthodox by today's standards.

(above) One of my favourites..a stolen car was recovered and inside the car a mosquito was captured. The mosquito was taken to the lab and after analysing the DNA form is blood, the villain was apprehended...amazing.

We are also commissioned to create colour in books. Below is a page from a book we illustrated for Hunter Water about water conservation....more colour in pages are available from their link http://www.hunterwater.com.au/53.aspx

Although we have created hundreds of square meters of murals mostly at the John Hunter Children's Hospital as well as schools and corporate and private venues we do not do as many now. This room below is situated in a consultation room of paediatric out patients at the John Hunter Hospital , Newcastle Australia ( 1 of 22 murals over a 6 year project) Many more on our website http://www.ricwoods.com/

Another passion is that we love to teach.Cartooning in schools with primary school kids, classes for people with disabilities and mental illness for community services like Life without Barriers and Life Activities etc

Lately we have been conducting off camera strobe ( small flash units made by Nikon, canon etc)
you can see some of the results on the Flickr site, the participants moved to a new level in understanding light and the a rewarding ability to light on location

Maree is drawing up some exciting new classes for this year, if you are interested in more information shoot her an email on maree@ricwoods.com... cheers Maree and ric
